Australia Day 2010 - Mathoura

We headed back up north for the Australia Day weekend, this time to Murray Downs in Mathoura. What a gorgeous place to stay!! It was a caravan park so we had toilets, showers and power for that all important air conditioner.

I left work early on Friday so that we could get there a little earlier, we arrived at around 5.30pm which was good coz it was a bloody hot day up there and it was just starting to cool down.

Saturday was spent relaxing. The girls headed into Echuca for a spot of shopping and some lunch while the boys took care of all the kids... noice!!

Yet again the kids had a fantastic time just running around, playing and swimming and they had sooooooo many friends to play with. There were the Grays, the Sankey's, the Lawrence's, the Price's, the Teese's and the Gentles. Want to know how many kids that is all up... 22! You'd think with that many kids there'd be some serious argy bargy but there was no fighting at all... they all get along so well!

Plenty of time was spent swimming or splashing about in the water as you can see by these photos!

Yet again Coops and his John Deere dump truck were inseparable! It did a few k's over the weekend and even got dunked in the Murray a couple of times.

I'm not sure whether it's his truck or his bum that attracted Lizzie!!

There were bikes to ride, tennis to play, prams to be pushed around in and the girls put on quite a show to Lady Ga Ga's Poker Face!!

On Sunday we headed around to a place called Picnic Point where you could get into the river and just float back to the caravan park... it took about an hour and it was soooo relaxing.

As is always the way the days flew by and it was time to go. We left on Tuesday after a very relaxing holiday with a great group of friends. I'm thinking Murray Downs caravan park hasn't seen the last of us.

Coops just going about his own business!!

To ruin a fabulous weekend we had a blow out on the way home!! The caravan tyre was stripped of its rubber and caused a bit of damage to the old girl. We had two lots of people stop to help, (Bindi, we were very very close to giving you guys an SOS call!!) thank goodness the second guy had a sledge hammer so Rob could smash a steel plate back into place so that we could get the spare tyre on!!!

So what should have been a 2.5 - 3hr drive home ended up being about 4.5hrs but we survived to tell the tale... and that's all that matters!!

Happy Australia Day!
