Southern 80 2010 was a bit of a milestone. After YEEEEARS of the boys heading up to Echuca for a boys weekend the wives and kids were finally 'allowed' to tag along.
So on Friday 12th the Kristitz's, the Kealy's and the VanGemert's all headed up for what turned out to be a fantastic weekend (so fantastic, I might add, that the wives and kids are going up again next year... yep, it's already been booked!!)
The days were spent lazing around on the banks of the Murray just watching the boats and skiers fly past. It was NOISY... and for the first hour or so JMK & CJK spent their time doing this...
However, once they got use to it they forgot about the noise and spent time splashing around in the water and having a great time with their friends Josh, Timmy, Alannah and Jackson.
Pull up a log and chomp on some watermelon while watching the race... ahhhhh this is the life!
They got a huge buzz out of seeing the helicopter up so close. It follows the boats down the river... it's quite a sight to see.
Of course, the grown ups had a good time too and it was GREAT catching up with Nick & Kell who we haven't seen for aaaages!
Kickin' back on the banks... we wondered what the poor people were doing... for a split second!
We also got the opportunity to catch up with Bindi, Wayne and Brodie, they came for a quick visit on the Saturday night and then joined us for dinner on Sunday night. I didn't get any pics but CJK & Brodie had a ball splashing around in the caravan park pool... they were great little mates.
As is often the case, the Southern 80 was marred by a death of a skiier which is tragic. I imagine he died doing what he loved. These guys go hard and fast!!
