First stop was the Gorillas! We must have gotten there just after they'd been served breakfast because they were busily eating while we stood behind the glass barrier and watched them. JMK was a little in awe of them, but when I asked if they looked like Daddy she definitively said NOOOOOO!
From the Gorillas we moved onto the other monkey enclosures, but on the way we bumped into a peacock just wandering around.
It was very funny listening to the kids get excited about the monkeys and watching them do their monkey impersonations.
Next it was on to the elephants and what a great show they put on for us. There are new elephants at the Melbourne Zoo and their enclosure is just lovely... and you can get realllllly close to them!

Jorja & Baxter saying HI to the elephant!
They were having a bath when we arrived to see them!
We had a little rest after the elephants, just to have a bit of a drink and something to eat!
The new Orang-utan Sanctuary was next... it was only opened last week and it is really lovely!

Baxter & Jorja outside the new Orang-utan Sanctuary
The Orang-utans came right up to the glass, Tara got a good look at them and could have sat in their laps if the glass wasn't in the way... that's how close they were!!

Jorja preferred the ones that DIDN'T move!
Lunch was next on the agenda... I think both the Mummies and kids were getting a little hungry. We found a nice shadey spot to throw the rug out and all sit down for some sandwiches and fruit or yoghurt... not to mention smarties and Blinky Bill bars courtesy of Georgia and Nicole!

James, Tara & Jorja enjoying some lunch
Once the kids had finished their lunch they had a ball chasing the seagulls and other birds that were hanging around the lawn area!
It was getting pretty warm by this stage and both Mummies & kids were almost ready for home... but... we still had to see the Seals... you can't go to the zoo and NOT see the Seals. JMK's impersonation of them was pretty much spot on!
From the seals we moved on to the Giraffes, where they had about 4 of them wandering around the enclosure as well as an ostrich and a couple of zebras!
We also got to see Lions, meercats, Hyenas, birds and lots of other animals that I didn't take pictures of! The kids were so well behaved and I'm pretty sure they had a wonderful time at the zoo today.
